The H.C. Andersen Marathon, named after Hans Christian Andersen, is held annually in the Danish author’s birthplace of Odense. This year its 18th edition and the city will be livelier than ever come 1 October, buzzing with exited participants and spectators. The race is rewarding for both experienced and first-time participants, made up of a traffic-free route that passes through the city’s streets. Proving it’s the taking part that counts, every runner gets a medal complete with an image of the marathon’s namesake.
The event includes Marathon, ½ Marathon, 10K, Danish Championship Marathon and MiniMarathon.
