Run in the land of runners on the roof of Africa!
2016 Great Ethiopian Run International 10k – 16th edition
The race takes place in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on Sunday 20th November 2016.
With 40,000 participants, the race has become the biggest road race in Africa. The race is hailed by Brendan Forster, Chairman of NOVA International, as ‘the most exciting race in the world’. It attracts participants from all over the world. Last year alone more than 600 overseas participants took part in the 10k.
At 2500m above sea level, Addis Ababa is the third highest capital in the world. This run will almost certainly be your highest ever 10km run!
From its inception in 2001 Haile Gebreselassie has been the main mover behind this event which, as well as being Africa’s biggest road race, promotes important social messages about health and the Millenium Development Goals – for more information see www.ethiopianrun.org
Race entry fee is £40, which also includes entrance to the pre-race Pasta Party at the Hilton Addis Ababa. Non-residents who wish to register for the race are advised to go to GER International 10k information page for further details of the benefits of non-resident registration.
