Now one of the biggest and best trail marathons in the UK, The Bolton Hill Marathon returns in 2015 bigger and better than ever with a new summer date.
The Bolton Hill Marathon is one 26.2 mile lap of beautiful and scenic countryside starting and finishing in Moss Bank Park. The Marathon has a fully supported route with 6 Feed Stations along the way (…) Although one of the toughest marathons in the UK, it is suitable for all abilities with an 8 hour time limit, the marathon takes you through some of the most beautiful trails and country roads on the West Pennine Moors with spectacular views (on a clear day) across the whole North West of England. You run up and over Winter Hill taking you past the massive 1,035 foot Mast, past Rivington Pike and Barn, through Barrow Bridge village and down the famous miners 63 steps, past White Coppice and along the famous Anglezarke Reservoir on a stunning 26.2 mile journey.
The route is approximately 30% country road and 70% trail and is fully marked with a total ascent of 2997 feet.
